Congratulations Shirley Simon on your Retirement

GeoComm would like to congratulate our Contract Manager, Shirley Simon, on her retirement. Thank you for over 20 years of service at GeoComm. We asked Shirley to reflect on her time here at GeoComm and these are her thoughts.

What is your biggest achievement while working at GeoComm?

The opportunity to advance through the years in roles ranging from radio communications, marketing, sales, operations, human resources and contract management. This has given me a well-rounded background to grow within GeoComm. It has been an interesting and educational journey.

What is one piece of advice you have for new employees?

Be open to change and new ideas as technology is always evolving. As an example, I remember our implementation team carrying around large bag cellphones when they would travel to a customer site. Now look where cellphone technology is today!

What is your favorite memory while working at GeoComm?

The adoption of the “Fun Committee” at GeoComm. Planning events for employees to come together to get to know each other on a personal level in addition to a working professional relationship.

Do you have any exciting retirement plans?

I am hoping to spend more time with friends and family and attend more of my grandchildren’s activities and sports. Also, having more time for activities I enjoy such as biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and reading. I also plan on volunteering more in our community.

Why did you choose the public safety industry?

Hearing from a GeoComm customer about how our solutions have helped rescue a victim in a fire, save a life in a multiple vehicle crash, or speed up the process of finding a lost child. Those are the stories I take with me.

What is your biggest takeaway from GeoComm?

GeoComm has grown and advanced in leaps and bounds through the years. There are many talented employees who are willing to do what it takes to meet all the challenges and work together as a team with our customers as their priority. This truly speaks to our mission of helping to save lives, protect property, and providing the best solutions to public safety professionals. I am proud to have been a part of these continuing accomplishments.
